Sick certificates are provided free of charge after seven days of illness preventing you from working. Please do not book appointments for short-lived minor illnesses, lasting less than seven days, which you are able to treat yourself. You may "self-certify" for the first seven days of sickness for the purposes of Statutory Sick Pay. Click here to download the Inland Revenue SC2 form which may be used for this purpose and to claim Statutory Sick Pay (your employer may have their own form which they prefer you to use). Some employers operate their own sick pay schemes and require a doctor to certify all illness. We may be able to provide a certificate before seven days of illness on a private basis but a fee will be payable. No exception to this is made as we do not wish to encourage people to book unnecessary appointments. For more information on sick pay click here to visit the ACAS website. We are unable to backdate sick certificates unless we have documentary evidence of consultation with a doctor for the same course of illness. This applies to both private and NHS certificates. |
